SheaMoisture recently launched a new line of products, all dedicated to scalp health. The Shea Moisture Scalp Care Collection is actually two ranges of products: one dedicated to scalp moisture and the other to combatting dandruff.
The line is infused with ceramide precursors and vitamin B3, which hydrate the scalp and leave hair 8x more moisturized versus a non-conditioning shampoo, according to a brand fact sheet.
Maintaining a healthy scalp is essential for thriving natural hair. Your scalp produces sebum, which in turn flows down your hair shaft to keep your strands healthy and moisturized. Those of us with kinky, coily, and curly hair are often prone to dryness because sebum has a harder time making it all the way down our strands.
While I don’t get dandruff, my scalp has a tendency to get dry and sensitive in certain spots. My hair is also very curly so I usually have to lightly mist my hair each day to add moisture, but day five, my roots are pretty dry.
The Aloe Butter Scalp Moisture Cream is definitely now going to be part of my weekly routine. The cream comes in a slim bottle with an application nozzle, making it perfect for getting through thick curls and to the scalp. I applied it all over my scalp, concentrating on my hairline and the nape of my neck, which is where my roots tend to get driest. I then massaged it in with my fingers. Not only my scalp, but my roots, felt instantly moisturized and soft, not at all greasy. I oil my scalp several times a week but I think the Aloe Butter Scalp Moisture Cream is what I need to keep my hair moisturized all week.
I’m excited to try the rest of the line, especially the Scalp Moisture Pre-Wash Masque and the Scalp Moisture Conditioner. I also think the Anti-Dandruff Leave-in, which is infused with apple cider vinegar and B3, and salicylic acid would be perfect for box braids and other braided styles.
Overall, I definitely recommend the SheaMoisture Scalp Care Collection to anyone who has a sensitive scalp, has dandruff, or just wants to keep their scalp healthy!
