Regrowing your hairline is a marathon, not a sprint. I did my first PRP session in October 2022 and have been working consistently since then to get my edges back to their former, full glory. In addition to PRP, one of the things I’ve been using to regrow the hair along my hairline is a derma roller.
What is a derma roller?
A derma roller is a small handheld device covered in tiny needles. When rolled over the scalp, they create micro-punctures that stimulate blood flow and collagen production. This can help awaken dormant hair follicles and encourage new hair growth. There is some scientific evidence to back up these claims, though the research is limited.
How to use a derma roller
Choose the right roller: Look for a derma roller specifically designed for hair loss. I use a 1.5mm one from Pump Haircare but you can get this similar one on Amazon for only $9.97.
Cleanse your scalp: Start with a clean scalp to prevent any bacteria from entering the micro-punctures.
Roll gently: Apply light pressure and roll the derma roller back and forth across your hairline and any areas with thinning hair. Aim for about 10-15 passes in each direction.
Clean your roller: Disinfect the derma roller after each use to keep it sanitary.
Apply serum, oil, or minoxidil: Derma rolling is great for maximizing the benefits of hair growth hair growth products. I’ve been using my homemade hair growth oil and 2% topical minoxidil, like Rogaine.
I derma roll one to two times a week.
Remember, there are no miracle potions or overnight solutions for hair growth! Seek the guidance of a dermatologist and be consistent with your regimen. With time, you’ll see results.
